Best games for Monday November 13th picks
Minnesota 70 Providence 66
A game between two of my Top-20 teams in the country sees the Minnesota Golden Gophers go up against the Providence Friars. The Friars will be playing without Emmitt Holt and Jalen Lindsey for tonight’s game due to injury. The matchup to watch will be Nate Mason against Kyron Cartwright as both are great point guards. Look for the game to be close throughout, however I think a couple of late game shots by Nate Mason will lift the Gophers to a tight win.
Vanderbilt 77 Belmont 69
The battle of Nashville will see the Vanderbilt Commodores go up against the Belmont Bruins. The Bruins will look to keep the game at a high tempo, while the Commodores will look to keep it low scoring. Look for the Commodores to ease Matthew Fisher-Davis into the lineup, so expect the duo of Riley LaChance and Jeff Roberson to lead the team in scoring. The Commodores will hold off a tough Bruins team late and move to 2-0 overall.
Florida Gulf Coast 85 Siena 77
The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles will face the Siena Saints in a great mid-major matchup. The Saints will look to keep the game slower paced, as the Eagles are one of the most athletic teams in College Basketball. Look for the Eagles to have the lead throughout and for them to control the game pace, however the Saints won’t go away. Eventually the Eagles will get fouled and then they will pull away late and win 85-77.
Charleston 62 Wichita State 81
Arguably one of the best mid-majors this year in Charleston, will face one of the historically great mid-majors, who is no longer a mid-major in Wichita State. The Shockers are heavy favorites for good reason as they return 9 of their 10 leading scorers from last year, the only thing they are missing is Markis McDuffie who is out with a foot injury. Look for the Shockers to get out to a big lead and hold onto it to win big 81-62.
Rhode Island 75 Nevada 80
The two best mid-majors in College Basketball not named Gonzaga and St. Mary’s this year square off in what is primed to be a game for the ages. The guard heavy Rhode Island Rams will head on the road to square off against the Forward heavy Nevada Wolfpack. The Wolfpack will look to push the pace offensively, while the Rams might try to slow things down a bit and run offense. Look for this game to be tight throughout, however a loud crowd will help lift the Wolfpack to a tight 80-75 victory over the Rams, in a game that will help both teams NCAA Tournament time with seeding.
